By far the best way to make rapid progress in any language is to live it, or be immersed in it. Language immersion weekends at Penobscot School provide a safe, relaxed atmosphere where you will participate in everyday activities in your chosen language, just as you would if you were living in a foreign country. From morning to night, your native-speaking instructors and assistants will help you with vocabulary, grammar, listening and pronunciation, and you will also go on excursions, play games, sing, prepare authentic meals, enjoy cultural presentations and perhaps make a presentation of your own. Two years of previous language study is recommended, or the ability to speak about simple, everyday subjects in the present and past tenses.

Teachers will find material useful in the classroom and a valuable refresher of speaking skills. Stories, drama, music, film, food and native-speaking friends will provide for a deep immersion into the language and culture.

The immersion runs from 5 pm Friday through 2 pm Sunday and includes instruction, all activities and materials, and six meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.

Accommodation is off-site at local inns within-in walking distance of School: shared or single rooms. Please inquire for pricing. It is possible to register for just Saturday of a weekend immersion, at the discretion of the instructor. The day begins at breakfast, and Saturday students are welcome through dinner and evening activities: 8:30 am-9 pm: $112.
