REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Payment for weekly classes, workshops or Immersion courses can be made by cash, personal or travelers check, or credit card - VISA and MasterCard only. Registrations are accepted in person or by surface mail (Penobscot School, 28 Gay Street, Rockland, Maine 04841 USA) or email <penobscot@languagelearning.org>, fax (207.594.1067) and telephone (207.594.1084).

Weekly Courses: Please complete the registration form; payment must accompany registration. Withdrawal from a course, at any time during the first week of class, receive a full refund, minus $10 handling fee.

Register early and save on tuition for weekly classes! For Fall classes, pay by Friday, September 16 and subtract $10 off of the tuition fee and for Winter classes, pay by January 20 and subtract $20 off of the tuition fee.

Immersion Courses: Please complete the registration form; payment must accompany registration. Registration Deadline is 4 pm on Monday of the course week. Fees for weekend immersion programs are refundable, minus $20 handling fee, if requested by the 4 pm Monday registration deadline.

Policy for low-enrollment classes: In most cases, weekly classes require a minimum of five registered students. If a class is canceled, students have the choice of a full refund or a class transfer.

Levels: Attempts are made to match student skill level with the appropriate course; however, class levels are approximate and mixed. Course instructors are available to assist with decisions about language and class levels.

New Languages or Event Ideas

Most of the courses listed are being offered because people came forward and asked, ‘How about offering..?’ If you wish to learn a language that you do not see listed, please tell us!

Private Lessons

If you prefer private lessons with one of our instructors, please contact us. Fee for private lessons: $35/hour or $300 for 10 hours of one-on-one instruction, including free initial half-hour consultation with the instructor. Students will be charged for any appointment or lesson not canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Pre-paid lessons are not refundable and must be used within one year of purchase.

Translation/Interpreting Referrals

Penobscot School is not an agency that offers translation or interpreter services but, some of our instructors will accept small projects for a modest fee. If your project does not require the services of a professional translator or interpreter agency but it involves a foreign language represented on our referral roster, we will happily refer you to the appropriate resource. Penobscot School charges no referral fee and assumes no responsibility for the quality or timeliness of the translation or interpreting project. Fees and all other arrangements are left wholly to the outside entities involved and are not the responsibility of Penobscot School.
