Last semester this course covered basic German greetings, vocabulary and
word order. We have had dialogues and vocabulary for food and drink,
restaurants, shopping, and jobs. We have learned to tell time and learned
some adjectives, prepositions and adverbs. We have focused on the
nominative case and started the accusative case. We expect to cover the
dative case and the past tense. We use German whenever possible practicing
grammar and vocabulary, and we use English when learning new grammar.

Last semester we spent quite a lot of time reviewing grammar and practicing
it in dialogue or in texts. Basic grammar has been covered, including all
of the cases: nominative, accusative, dative, genitive. The winter
curriculum will include additional reading of texts. As much as possible,
German is spoken throughout, except for grammar explanations.
